2020 Democratic Primaries: Top Democratic Presidential Candidates you need to know

We are now less than 15 months out from the 2020 US presidential elections. For those that are not aware, the election is stipulated to take place on November 3rd, 2020. For the purpose of this article, we’ll be focusing on the 2020 Democratic primaries. The number of candidates vying for the Democratic presidential ticket is said to be largest in the country’s history. So far, the party have received 25 nominees and more are yet to announce their campaign. So while we wait for them, here are the top Democratic presidential candidates you need to know;

John Kelvin Delaney

First, on the list of top democratic presidential candidates, you need to know is John Delaney. He is a former congressman representing Maryland’s 6th congressional district from 2013 to 2019. He is the first person to announce his candidacy back in July 2017.

  • Years in politics: 6
  • Funded by: He is a businessman and presently funding his campaign. Though he was founded by housing, construction companies and banks during his congressional race.
  • Vision for the economy: Compete against China in Asia. Build private and the public international coalition against China’s intellectual property theft.

Andrew Yang

Andrew Yang is the son of Taiwanese immigrants. He is a tech entrepreneur, philanthropist and attorney. He is the founder of VFA (Venture of America), a nonprofit organization tasked with creating jobs in rural cities within the country. Yang announced his candidacy in November 2018.

This economy has clear excesses and headwinds; it will falter in the days ahead – the questions are timing and order of magnitude.

Julian Castro

Julian Castro served under Barrack Obama Cabinet from 2014 to 2017 as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. At the time, he was the youngest member of the president’s cabinet. Castro entered the presidential race in January 2019.

Marianne Williamson

Marianne Williamson is an activist, lecturer and author. She has 13 books of which four of them were ranked number one by the New York Times. She is also known as a spiritual advisor to Billionaire Oprah Winfrey. Back in 2014, Marianne ran for US representative in California independently and lost.

Kamala Harris is a former prosecutor in Oakland, California. She is also a former Senator where she represented California. She announced her candidacy in January 2019.
