Bowen University is a private Baptist Christian Nigerian owned University. The Nigerian Baptist convention also operates the school. This reputable tertiary institution is located in Iwo, Osun state and fondly known as BUI. The school began in 1854 when the family of Late Reverend Thomas Jefferson Bowen created the structure at Ijaiye Orile. However, it was formally christened a University in 2001.

Bear in mind that the 2019/2020 academic session will begin on the 23rd of September, 2019. Bowen, like many other schools in Nigeria, begins selling admission forms from July. Always check the school website starting from July through August to stay updated about their screening procedure.
Generally, their screening procedure takes place at various centers across Nigeria. They have centers in Lagos, Iwo, Port Harcourt, and Abuja. The screening takes place by 9 am. You must also go along with the following things:
- Offline/on-line generated acknowledgment form
- The UTME Result slip and choice of Institution for that year
- 0-LEVEL statement of result
- Birth Certificate

What is the school fees of Bowen University
Bear in mind that the Bowen University fees can change from time to time, it’s also different for each department. However, your school fees may range from N45, 000 to N1, 725,000. Returning students in 300 to 600 levels usually pay from N310, 000 to N1, 991, 500.
Your fees will also include health fee, accommodation, convenience use, bench fee, and other academic fees. If you want to enroll for the Postgraduate, your fees might be a total of N360, 000 which splits into three parts per semester.
Bowen Admission Requirements
To gain admission into Bowen, you need to sit for the UTME exam and must have credits in 5 subjects from SSCE, GCE, NECO or NABTEB. Your credits shouldn’t be from more than two sittings. However, specialized departments have additional requirements.
- For the Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Science, Physiotherapy, your entire five credit subject must come from one sitting. NABTEB is not acceptable.
- You must also pick the University of Application forms.
- You can use any JAMB even if you don’t pick them as the first choice, as long as you get a change of institution form from JAMB.
Bowen also offers Direct Entry into 200 and 300 levels. However, you need to apply through JAMB and must have any of the following:
- NCE at credit level, ND and approved equivalents with at least lower credit in relevant fields
- At least two Advanced Level passes at an acceptable grade level
- The Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) or Cambridge Moderated School of Basic Studies at acceptable grade levels.
- In addition to NCE/ND/IJMB, JUPEB or two advanced level papers specified by each faculty or program, candidates must also satisfy the Ordinary Level requirements
