Today, Wednesday, 23 December 2020, the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) had made the motion to call off its strike. The protracted industrial action has been on since March 2020.
The latest announcement was made at the briefing of the Union, in Abuja, by ASUU National President Biodun Ogunyemi.
During the briefing, ASUU expressed joy about how the Federal Government handled the negotiation process. However, the National President stated that there will be an executive meeting to conclude and return to the Government in 24 hours. Therefore, the agreement between both parties have not been made known to the general public.
Nonetheless, the agreement to call of the ASUU National strike was reached on Wednesday morning after over 8 hours close door meetings of negotiations between both parties.
