Types of caregivers

The Ministry of Social Services is looking for dynamic individuals who are devoted to helping others and improving the lives and well-being of children and families to join our team of Child and caregiver Support Workers.

Job Roles

• Be responsible for casework and resource planning related to a variety of programs for children in care, foster families and/or extended family caregivers.

• Work effectively and positively to support regional directions that continuously improve or enhance service delivery to children and their families

• Deliver training or facilitate groups for educational/support purposes

• Conduct family assessments for prospective adoptive, foster or extended family-based caregivers;

• Facilitate placements, providing post-placement support and maintenance;

• Provide support for caregivers to develop planning in children’s best interests and work to establish the supports required;

• Work with foster parents/caregivers to plan and prepare for the child’s return home;

• Act as a liaison and consultant where required, with FNCFS and other community agencies, on matters relating to service delivery for caregivers and decisions regarding children; and
• Complete documentation in accordance with professional standards of practice.

A LIVE-IN CAREGIVER

Location: 207 South Woodrow Blvd, Scarborough

$20 an hour – Full-time

 Job roles

• You will be Supervising and caring for children in the employer’s or own residence
• Bathe, dress and feed infants and children
• Prepare formulas and change diapers for infants
• Plan, prepare and serve meals for children and may perform other such as housekeeping duties
• Oversee children’s activities, such as meals and rest periods, as instructed by the employer
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home, Instruct children in personal hygiene
• Tend to the emotional well-being of children and support their social development
• Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents
• Provide age-appropriate educational training through organized activities, such as games, crafts, reading and outings
• Take children to and from school and appointments, May be required to keep records of each child’s daily activities and health information

Wage / Salary: 18/Hr. during the first year then increased to $20/Hr. for 2nd year. $30 Hr. / week
