Police in Imo state have uncovered a church being used as a “baby factory,” where young girls are kept, impregnated, and their babies sold to wealthy and childless clients.
According to a statement from the state police command, the tactical unit received an intelligence report that one Amarachi Okechukwu Dioku, who had been reported missing by her parents in May, was sighted in the premises of the church.
The state Commissioner of Police immediately dispatched the Anti-kidnapping unit, who arrested the resident Evangelist of the church and her gang members.
The victim was rescued unharmed, reunited with her parents, and taken to a government hospital for treatment. The investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to apprehend other members of the syndicate who are on the run.
