As a total of 8 coronavirus cases becomes a reality, Nigeria is taking steps to combat the spread of the virus. Already, the Federal Government is working towards restricting travel access to the country.
However, several governors across the North East and North West are taking steps further to stop the spread of coronavirus cases in the region.
Bans on schools and gatherings
In Kwara State, schools are shutting down from March 23rd and will remain closed for 30 days .
Public gatherings are also being banned, although nothing has yet been done to stop religious gatherings.
In another development, Bauchi has put a stop to the fingerprint terminals recently introduced to schools and offices because of the outbreak.
Ogun state has also banned large gatherings of more than 50 people.
Lagos shuts down schools
Lagos government has shut down schools to prevent children and their teachers fro becoming vulnerable to the virus. This announcement was released on the official Twitter page of the Lagos State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho. The closures will begin from Monday, March 23, 2020.
In another development, the Enugu State Government has also released N320 million to erect Isolation centers to prevent and tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
