Learn how to apply for Tax Identification Number (TIN). It is a unique number used by the Internal Revenue System (IRS) for identification purposes in the administration of tax laws. The TIN will be issued by the Internal Revenue System. Moving forward, the taxation system in Nigeria will be taken very seriously by the government and they are urging every eligible citizen to apply right now. TIN is what identifies an individual or corporate organisation as a registered taxpayer in the country.

According to the Joint Tax Board (JTB), individuals will be assigned a TIN automatically based on their National Identity Number (NIN) or Bank Verification Number (BVN). So to get the TIN as an individual make sure you have either of the two numbers. However, for corporate organisations, they will need to fill out an application form to get started. You can fill the application form here https://tin.jtb.gov.ng/TinRequestExternal

An individual or corporate organisation can check for their Tax Identification Number by visiting the Joint Tax Board (JTB) website https://tinverification.jtb.gov.ng/Template/TINVerification Enter the date of your company’s Incorporation and for individuals without a company, enter your date of birth.
