Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (rtd.), who is running for governor under the All Progressives Congress in Bauchi State, has reported that three of his security details were shot during a recent violent incident in Duguri, Alkaleri Local Government Area.
Abubakar stated that his men successfully retrieved two guns from the attackers and expressed concerns over the possibility of more violence during the upcoming election. Despite this, he asserted that the APC will not be intimidated. Abubakar also challenged Governor Bala Mohammed to focus on governance issues in the state.
The incident occurred in Duguri, the hometown of the governor, during a clash between supporters of the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party. One person was killed in the altercation.
The PDP denied accusations that their supporters instigated the incident by blocking the passage of APC supporters. The spokesperson for the PDP in the state, Yahya Zainabari, stated that the Inspector General of Police will intervene to ensure law and order during campaigns.
