Requirements To Register Your NIN
The possible requirements for the registration process of your NIN to your SIM card are:
- Full Name
- NIN
- Date of birth (DOB)
- Mobile Number
- Email Address
Note: that all the telecommunication operators require your National Identification Number (NIN) which you can get from the NCC office in any state in Nigeria.
But, in case you have forgotten your NIN, simply dial *346# to get your National Identification Number (NIN).

How To Link Your NIN to MTN Number
Your NIN can be linked to your Mtn in two ways, which are through the MTN website or the Mobile shortcode. Below is the following procedure.
MTN Website
Using the MTN website, you can directly register your NIN on the MTN website:
- Visit the customer NIN Capture: https://mtnonline.com/nin/
- Then fill the NIN linking form by typing in your name, MTN number, NIN, and email address.

- A feedback message from MTN will be sent to you.
Using the MTN Mobile short code, you can register your NIN through the following steps:

- Dial *785# on your MTN line and send

- Another page will pop-up indicating that your NIN has been successfully received.
Note: You might get an error message, such as “Network error,” while using the mobile shortcode. You do not need to worry much, simply wait for a couple of minutes and try it again.
How To Link Your NIN To Glo Number
To link your NIN to your Glo SIM card, just simply sending a text message to 109.
The text should contain the following details such as last name, first name, NIN, and UpdateNIN. For instance, a person answering Wilson John and has his NIN as 22290980844. The format of his message should be like UPDATENIN [space] 22290980844 [space] Wilson [space] John.
Note: Please, ensure that the name you submitted matches with the one on your National Identity Card for the linking process to be successful.
The alternative way is to visit www.gloworld.com/ng/nin. Then enter your name, Glo number, and your NIN for the linking process.
How To Link Your NIN To Airtel Number
Airtel customers can link their NIN to their SIM card by using a shortcode. So, follow the steps below:
- Dial *121*1# on your Airtel line
- Enter your 11 digits National Identification Number (NIN)
- A page will pop-up for confirmation and a text message will be sent indicating successful confirmation.
Note: if you receive an error message, do not panic, just wait for some minutes and then try again.
Alternatively, visit https://www.airtel.com.ng/nin on your mobile phone or computer to fill the online registration, which is required to link your NIN to your Airtel line.
How To Link Your NIN To 9Mobile Number
9Mobile customers can now link their NIN to their SIM cards by following the few steps below:
- Dial *200*8# on your 9mobile line and send
- Input your NIN and send
- Then you will get a feedback message confirming your successful submission.
