Types of UK Visas in Nigeria

There are many types of visas for those seeking to enter the United Kingdom. What are you going to do in the country? Going for visitation, work, business? Below are the types of UK visas available.

Business Visa

This visa has a processing time of 15 to 90 days. The duration of stay is 6 or fewer months. It is also known as ‘Tier 1 Visa’ and divided into five categories; General, Investors, Entrepreneur, Graduate Entrepreneur, and Exceptional Talent.

Work Visa

The work visa has a processing time of 15 to 90 days and the duration of stay is based on your intended work in the country. The Work Visa can either be a Tier 2 or Tier 5. People who are offered a skilled job in the UK belong to Tier 2. While people who are offered a job in a government authorized program belongs to Tier 5.

Student Visa

Probably the most popular visa for Nigerians. The student visa processing time is between 15 and 90 days. And you’re allowed to stay in the country for the length of your school program. This visa is also known as ‘Tier 4 Visa’.

Family Visa

This visa takes up to 15 – 90 days of processing time. And has a duration of stay between 3 and 6 months.

The visa can be processed within 15 to 90 days. And comes with a 6 months duration of stay.

UK Visa General Requirements

Before applying for a UK Visa, ensure you can understand, speak and communicate fluently in British English language. The following are the requirements needed for your UK Visa irrespective of the Visa type;

  1. A UK visa application form
  2. An International Valid Passport, and travel document valid for at least 30 days after the expiry of your visa. Please make sure your passport has a minimum of two unstamped pages for entry and departure.
  3. An original receipt as proof of the UK visa application fee payment.
  4. A coloured passport with white background with dimensions of 29 mm x 34 mm.
  5. Financial documents e.g. bank statement, proof of earnings or that of a guardian in the UK with sufficient resources.

  2. 2-year standard visitor visa – NGN 177,922 ($492)
